Going to Chicago
I'm going to Chicago this coming week for the UAI Leadership Seminar. This came up pretty much last minute for me. I'm very interested to see where it's going, and to meet the many people who will be attending.
Since it was last minute, it's cheaper for me to drive than fly. That's quite a journey, but it will be an adventure too. Heading out Tuesday night, or maybe early-early Wednesday morning. I plan to be there by Wednesday evening, but that's somewhat fluid, and I can arrive later if I need to.
Supplying for the drive, including road food and water, music, audio book(s) and whatever else I might need. And that's all before I even get to Chicago! Then I have whatever supplies I need for ~5 days away. Still, there are some distinct advantages to driving: I get to have my car with me, I avoid dealing with TSA, and I have more freedom to set my own schedule.
Looks like there may be a thunderstorm when I'm leaving. Could be quite a show!
